Mark Fisch Elected a Trustee at The Metropolitan Museum of Art
Mark Fisch has been elected to the Board of Trustees of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, it was announced today by James R. Houghton, the Museum's Chairman. Mr. Fisch's election took place at the January 8 meeting of the Board.
Mr. Fisch is Managing Partner of Continental Properties, a real estate development firm headquartered in Woodbridge, New Jersey, that has engaged in numerous real-estate development projects throughout New Jersey, Florida, New York City, and other locations. Mr. Fisch joined Continental Properties in 1986.
"It gives me great pleasure to welcome Mark Fisch to the Museum's Board," commented Mr. Houghton in announcing the election. "Over the past decade, he has been a steadfast supporter of both the European paintings and paintings conservation departments, sharing his experience and insights as a member of the advisory groups to those areas. He has also been a generous supporter of acquisitions to enhance the European paintings collection."
Philippe de Montebello, Director of the Metropolitan Museum, added: "The Museum's collection of European paintings has been significantly enriched through Mark's support and insights. In particular, his gift with his wife Rachel of Ludovico Carracci's 'Madonna and Child with Saints' last year brought a majestic, mature work by the master into the collection, where only an early, experimental work by Carracci resided before."
Born in New Jersey, Mr. Fisch holds degrees from George Washington University and Columbia University School of Law. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Columbia Presbyterian Health Sciences Advisory Council, and is former Commissioner of the New Jersey Council on Affordable Housing.
